Volvo India is all set to fire up 2017 with the launch of brand new S90 luxury sedan which is expected to put forward a tight competition to other German offerings. S90 was initially introduced at Detroit Motor Show in 2016 as a substitution of its old S80.
The former sedan encompasses all modern Volvo peculiarities when it comes to design including Thor’s hammer and iron lath front grille.
Volvo has flaunted about the elegance, technology and class by flouting the monotone German offerings with its recent launch of XC90 in the international markets. The niche car maker covets to repeat the same in the luxury car segment and is working for replacing S80. The Volvo S90 will make an entry into Indian market early 2017 and will take on the world class leaders and their offerings like the A6, XF, 5 Series and the E Class.
Based on the same stage as Volvo XC90, the new S90 will pull in some attention in terms of technology and design from the SUV line up. The interiors of S90 features high class leather upholstery and filled with features that can give a close competition to rivals.

The forthcoming Volvo S90 displays similar dimensions as S80 except additional modern aspects. First and Foremost the THOR Hammer headlights that lend a stunning manly mien to the sedan. Secondly the wrap around the headlights brings out ambience detection system which identifies any obstruction and lights up by self-adjusting illumination. Front side displays modern grille which leaves an elegant statement and a similar semblance can be found in Volvo earlier generation cars. The front bumper houses a complex structure and clearly distinguishes the new S90 from the earlier models.
The interiors of S90 boats Nappa enjoys leather upholstery with premier quality stitch and remarkable comfort. The Orrefors crystal finish in the gear sector along with wooden inlays was earlier seen in SC90. The spacious headroom, shoulder room and legroom will leave a great intuition among the chauffeured class.
Performance Overview Volvo S90
The S90 has been styled for better performance and designed for an enhanced coefficient of drag. For India, the S90 will be offered with a 2.0-litre diesel engine in two states of tune. The D4 version will put out 190 bhp whereas the D5 variant will offer 235 horses. Both the units will come paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

With its entry into Indian market, S90 will have to battle hard against the BMW 5-series, Audi A6 Matrix and Mercedes –Benz E Class. The price of Volvo S90 is expected between Rs 50 to 65 lakhs in India. Bookings for the car opened up in July this year.
