Launch Report: Mercedes-Benz launches C and S Cabriolet versions

Redefining open top motoring in India, Mercedes-Benz launched two more Cabriolet models in India from the C and S Class international range. The C 300 Cabriolet is priced at Rs 60 lakh while the S 500 Cabriolet come with a sticker price of Rs 2.25 crore, both prices being ex-showroom Delhi.

This is the first time the company is launching Cabriolet versions of these models. Mercedes already sells the E 400 Cabriolet for Rs 82 lakh. These new C and S models get a 2.0-litre and 4.7-litre petrol unit respectively and a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission is common between the two.


The S 500 Cabriolet was first showcased at the Delhi Motor Show earlier this year. The V8 4663cc engine belts out 455 bhp of power and 7000 Nm of torque, enough to get her from standstill to 100km/h in just 4.6 seconds. The C 300 gets a in-line four cylinder 1991cc unit with 245 bhp of power and 370 Nm of torque. 100 km/h comes up in 6.4 seconds. Top limited is limited to 250km/h for both the models.

The C 300 Cabriolet 

The C 300 comes with Dynamic Select which allows the driver to switch between five modes of Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. The soft top is fully automatic and can be operated till speeds of upto 50km/h and takes just 20 seconds to fold down completely. The soft top is available in four colors of black, dark blue, dark brown and dark red.


¬†On the inside, both seats are powered with memory function. It gets a 5.5-inch multi-function display, ambient lightning, AIRCAP for reduced turbulence, THERMATIC climate control, Burmester surround sound system, Agility control suspension and parking package. Customers can also avail of ‘Star Ease’ maintenance package for Rs 67,000 – valid for two years.


The S Cabriolet


At 2.25 crore, this is as exclusive as a car can become in India. With Supercar rivaling performance, this four-seater super luxury Cabriolet gets AIRMATIC suspension with variable damping control. There is a standard Head-up Display, Night vision assist and LED intelligent light system.


.It also gets a Burmester high-end 3D surround sound system with as many as 23 speakers. Other features include Parktronic with 360 degree camera, AIRCAP and exclusive Designo options which means you can pick from 3 different alloy wheel designs, 9 paint options, 4 roof color options, 6 upholstery options etc. Mercedes is also offering more than 13,000 possible customization combinations to ensure no two S 500 Cabriolets in India will be the same. The ‘Star Ease’ package for this model is for Rs 73,000 for 2 years.
