Maruti is all set to start 2017 with a bang. The Ignis hatchback is due for its launch on 13th January and has been one of the most anticipated launches in recent times (see these previous spy shots). Team-Bhp has managed to get hold of the official brochure and here is what you need to know!
The Ignis will come with both petrol and diesel engine options – these are identical to the ones seen in the now discontinued Ritz and the current Swift. The big deal is that the Ignis will come with automatic options for both the engines. This means the Ignis will be the most affordable diesel automatic in India.
Maruti will slot the Ignis between the Wagon R and the Baleno in terms of pricing. It will be sold via Nexa outlets and here is a quick look at the variant line up
Maruti Ignis Sigma: This is the base version that will only be available with a petrol manual option.
Maruti Ignis Delta: The Delta trim will be available with both petrol & diesel and manual & automatic options.
Maruti Ignis Zeta: Like the Delta, this one will also be available with both engine and transmission options.
Maruti Ignis Alpha: This is the top end version but unfortunately Maruti will not offer automatic options on this one. This version will come with optional two-tone color (like the Brezza).
The Ignis is expected to carry a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh for the base petrol (Sigma) and Rs 6.75 lakh for the base diesel (Delta) versions. At these prices, the Ignis will make up for a fantastic buy for the urban consumer. It looks ‘different’, has funky interiors and like some of its recent launches, the feature list is impressive as well. This includes Suzuki SLDA App (Smartphone linkage display App), push button start, a tablet like display, LED projector lamps etc.
