November is the month of new car launches and Skoda kick start the proceedings with the launch of the new Rapid. Prices are expected to remain more or less same as the current model which means the line-up will start from approximately Rs 8 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The new Rapid will continue to be offered with a choice of a 1.6-litre petrol or a 1.5-litre diesel. The latter will be available with either a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
These shots are of the production ready models and showcase the changes clearly. Up front, the new Rapid gets a sharper face which looks modern and a huge departure from the outgoing version. The creases are well defined and it gets a new bumper along with new fog lamp housings too. The same goes for the new grille and black masked headlamps. Minor changes are expected at the rear too.
On the inside, the new 2017 Skoda Rapid will get additional features such as MirrorLink. There are subtle changes to the cabin design and upholstery as well. Passenger and luggage space will continue to be the same.
The Rapid is currently doing about 650-700 units on a month. With the new model, these numbers will definitely take a hike. There are more cars lined up for launch after the Rapid, the next one being this, the new Volvo S90 sedan
