2017 couldn’t have kick-started in a better way for auto enthusiasts in terms of new cars. From the young Audi A3 Cabriolet to the sexy Lamborghini Huracan RWD Spyder, we also saw launches like Mercedes-Benz A-Class & B-Class Night Editions and even the massive Tata Hexa SUV. And now the stage is set for the Porsche 718 Twins on 15th Feb.

The Boxster looks absolutely stunning from this angle. Just wow!

If you 30 something, I am sure you have grown up fantasizing about the good old Porsche 911. That was all that mattered to some of us. As we grew older, the brand became younger and the 718 is a testimony to that fact. India will get both the hard top Cayman and the open top Boxster in four days from now. Both the cars are expected to be priced in the region of Rs 80-85 lakh, with the Boxster being the pricier of the two. It should be noted that bookings for these models started last year itself.

The Cayman

The new models, for India, will get the turbo-charged 2.0-litre unit that puts out 300 bhp of power and 380 Nm of torque. These smaller engines (older ones were bigger V6s) have also helped Porsche in terms of lower taxes (for a CBU). Mated to the famous dual clutch PDK transmission, the 718 twins will do about 275km/h in terms of top speed with a 0-100 run being dismissed off in 5 seconds flat. And while doing this, they sound orgasmic! Have a look.

Don’t miss this video – exhaust note during flat out acceleration.

Porsche has also tweaked the suspension set-up and re-tuned the chassis even further. Then there are cosmetic upgrades in the form of a wiper front and new side skirts. The front also gets new bi-xenon headlights (with DRLs ofcourse). Option list will also include LED headlights, something that is standard in the new Maruti Ignis (click to read)
