The KWID has been a runway success for Renault in India. They launched the bigger 1.0-litre engine last year and then the AMT too was introduced. However, both these options were only available in the top-end RXT trim (read our report) but now the company has made the Kwid 1.0 more accessible to buyers.
The mid spec RXL 1.0 KWID starts at Rs 3.54 lakh for the manual version and Rs 3.84 lakh for the AMT (automatic) version. The 1.0 versions also get new Speed –Sport designer graphics on the doors and two-tone gloss grey ORVMs. Lets have a look at difference prices for the 1.0 KWID versions:
- Renault KWID RXL 1.0 : Rs 3.54 lakh
- Renault KWID RXL 1.0 AMT: Rs 3.84 lakh
- Renault KWID RXT 1.0 : Rs 3.88 lakh
- Renault KWID RXT 1.0 (O) : Rs 4.01 lakh
- Renault KWID RXT AMT (O) : Rs 4.31 lakh
This bigger 1.0-litre engine puts out 68 PS of power and 91 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic gearbox. The AMT Easy-R gearbox has an innovative shift control dial and not a conventional gear lever. The dial can be switched between three modes of R (reverse), N (neutral) and D (drive).
The bigger 1.0 RXL version is priced just Rs 22,000 more than the smaller engine version (0.8 litres). Likewise, the RXL AMT is priced at a premium of just Rs 30,000 over the manual version. With segment leading length, power to weight ratio, boot space and ground clearance along with funky elements like digital speedometer, these new variants will surely increase the demand for the KWID in India.
