Tata Motors has finally launched the much awaited Hexa SUV in India. Prices start at Rs 11.99 lakh for the base model, ex-showroom Delhi which means it undercuts the official pricing of the Mahindra XUV5OO. The Hexa will be sold in three versions of XE, XM and XT with optional 4×4 and AT options. Here is a look at the version wise pricing:

Tata Hexa XE (4×2, MT) Price : Rs 11.99 lakh

We test drove the Hexa in Hyderabad last year and were mighty impressed. The Hexa can also be seen as a next generation Aria, the MPV that didn’t manage to sell well in India. This new Tata will compete with the Toyota Innova Crysta and the Mahindra XUV5OO and comes in both 7-seat and 6-seat configurations. The XUV5OO is priced from Rs 12.47 lakh onwards for the base model. The AT version of the XUV is priced from Rs 14.76 lakh onwards.

The Tata Hexa has massive road presence thanks to its dimensions, 19-inch alloy wheels and body cladding. Tata will also be selling a range of official ‘Tuff’ accessories for the Hexa (read more here). The Hexa is aimed at families as well as enthusiasts who undertake adventurous journeys often. As an XUV owner, I think the Hexa ticks all the right boxes in this regard.

The Hexa is powered by the same 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel motor as the Aria and the Safari Storme. The base version gets a lower state of tune with 150 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque. This base XE version is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The higher XM and XT versions get 160 bhp of power and most importantly, 400 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

Tata has loaded the Hexa with a long list of standard features. Dual airbag and ABS are standard across the range while the range topping XT version also gets side and curtain airbags. Other features include ESP, traction control, cruise control, 10 speaker infotainment, leather seats, DRLs etc.
