Tata Motors is inching closer to the launch of the Tiago based sedan, the Tigor. It is being promoted as a ‘Styleback’ which is basically ‘Notchback’ styling as seen in cars like the Skoda Octavia. While we are scheduled to drive the car next month, spy shots have emerged online of the production ready Tigor being driven inside the manufacturing plant.
These new spy shots clearly show the radical rear design of the Tigor. The running horizontal chrome strip does look good and so do those black alloy wheels. Tata Motors has worked really hard to up the styling quotient with the Tigor. Converting a hatchback to a sedan is often a challenge for many but in this case, the end result is good enough.
As seen in the images, the top-end Tata Tigor also gets chrome treatment around the windows and even a stand-out black rear spoiler. The car also seems to be running on 15-inch alloy wheels and has ample ground clearance.
The Tata Tigor will be India’s most affordable sedan and we expect prices to start at under Rs 4 lakh for the base model (read our story). It will continue to come with the same engine options as the Tiago which includes a 1.2-litre petrol and a new 1.05-litre diesel. AMT might be offered at launch itself.
Tata Motors has pulled up their socks in the last one year or so. We enjoyed driving the Tiago around the scenic West Coast (read the travelogue) and later the Hexa impressed us too (read our detailed road test). Can’t wait to experience the Tigor next month!
